ENGLISH SECOND LANGUAGE SUPPORT PROGRAMME

This Programme, instituted at the school in 1990, is aimed at pupils whose mother tongue is not English. The programme is run by a highly qualified specialist teacher who assists pupils from diverse backgrounds to improve their written and oral communication skills.

Tuition takes place both within the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. This Programme is made available to pupils at no extra charge.

SCHOOL FACILITIES

The School garden with its trees, logs and Adventure Playground is designed for active creative play and physical challenges. The hard-surfaced court is used for a variety of games.

There is a library of carefully selected books and a hall with a piano for folk dancing, drama and festive activities.

There are facilities for computer studies - considered to be an important subject in the high school - woodwork, handwork and gardening.

MEDICAL CARE

Clinics are arranged at school from time to time at the request of the teachers or parents. With the aim of treating the individual rather than his symptoms, the doctor meets the pupil, the parent and the teacher separately before finally formulating the treatment. Eye and ear tests are conducted each year for certain age groups, followed by a written report to parents.

Basic first aid for the pupils is available at the school office.

FUNDRAISING

Michael Oak has a special office that co-ordinates several fundrising initiatives:
